"It wasn’t hard for me to see that they both have issues," David Fincher told Little White Lies about the central couple in "Gone Girl." "Obviously there are certain interpersonal standards that are being played among this couple – there are things about her which he resents which are universal, and vice versa. There’s definitely a ‘Rashomon‘ sense of how things are remembered by certain characters. It’s the whole thing of, what’s the most reliable point of view? Who has the most to lose at any given juncture?" And it’s a subtext taken to potboiler extremes in the upcoming thriller.
The promo machine is in full swing, and today brings the first official clip from the movie, but don’t worry, there are no spoilers. It’s a sequence that details how Nick (Ben Affleck) and Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike) first met, and shows the meet-cute magic that led to them eventually getting married. It’s happier times for the pair, before the mystery kicks in, and as this new TV spot reveals, Nick is in a whole lot of trouble when Amy goes missing and the media spotlight shines brightly into his face.
