Watch: Trailer For TIFF Horror ‘Spring’ Starring Lou Taylor Pucci

SpringWhile the bulk of press coverage during major film festivals is centered on handicapping the awards prospects of the more buzzy dramatic films, the past decade has seen genre films make up a growing portion of festival schedules, with many of them breaking out of the midnight screening ghetto they were once relegated to. The latest escapee is the Lou Taylor Pucci-starring horror film “Spring” which will premiere this weekend as part of the Toronto International Film Festival’s Vanguard program, and its first trailer has now arrived online, via Deadline.

Directed by the duo of Justin Benson and Aaron Scott Moorhead, the filmmakers behind the Tribeca Film Festival-approved “Resolution,” the film follows an American (Pucci) who flees his dead-end life in the States for Italy, where he meets and falls in love with a girl (Nadia Hilker) who is not what she seems. The trailer runs just over two minutes and is careful to let you know that things go very, very wrong without explicitly revealing the dark, primordial secret that Hilker’s character hides.

So, if you’re in Toronto with a hole in your TIFF schedule, but are still on the fence about “Spring,” check out the unsettling trailer below. The film premieres tonight at the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema with two more screenings set over the following week at the Scotiabank Theatre. We’ll have our take on the film as soon as we can.
