It looks like Shia LaBeouf is ready to go indie after a run of big budget films.
The actor is set to star in “The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman,” based on the Black List script by Matt Drake. In the film, LaBeouf will play the titular character “who falls for a girl who is a gangster’s moll. Charlie tries to win her and protect her without getting himself killed, too.”
The film is set to mark the feature debut by commercial director Dante Ariola and as for writer Matt Drake, in addition to having a Black List script under his belt, he also just happens to have penned the forthcoming, low budget R-rated comedy “Project X” produced by Todd Phillips and Joel Silver. Despite our reservations about the logline (swap out “gangsters moll” with “being chased by robots” and you have “Transformers 3”), we’ll keep a curious eye on this one. The film will go in front of cameras this fall.
