With the successful partnership between Marvel and Netflix allowing the comic book studio to showcase their heroes in a more adult series, FX has decided to jump on the Marvel bandwagon with their upcoming “Legion.” And the newest teaser for the Marvel drama promises something of a mind-bender.
“Legion” tells the story a man who is either schizophrenic or perhaps the most powerful mutant on the planet. The series is based on a character from the “X-Men” series of comics, however, don’t expect any close ties to the same film franchise (though he is the son of Charles Xavier and Gabrielle Haller). Watching the footage that has been shown so far, it would be easy for audiences to not even realize this is a superhero show to begin with. This is obviously by design, as it’s worked incredibly well for Marvel and Netflix in the last couple years.
Producer Noah Hawley, creator of FX’s own “Fargo” series, is responsible for this new “X-Men” spinoff, with Dan Stevens taking the lead role, with Jean Smart, Katie Asleton, Jeremie Harris, and Aubrey Plaza among the supporting players.
“Legion” arrives in February 2017.
