Just in time for Valentine’s Day, The Criterion Collection will bring one of the greatest screen relationships of all time to their label, while dotting the rest of the month with more treats for movie lovers.
The boutique label anchors their February 2017 slate with the long expected release of Richard Linklater‘s Before Trilogy containing “Before Sunrise,” “Before Sunset,” and “Before Midnight.” Each film is coming with a fresh 2K restoration, while the box set will contain the 2016 documentary “Dream Is Destiny” about Linklater, the making of “Before Midnight” doc by filmmaker Athina Rachel Tsangari, and much more. This will be one you’ll want to have on the shelf.
Noir fans will see Michael Curtiz‘s “Mildred Pierce” get the wacky C. The movie is coming in a fresh 4K restoration, packed with the full length documentary “Joan Crawford: The Ultimate Movie Star,” and much more. Classic movie buffs will be thrilled.
Acclaimed documentary “Cameraperson” gets the Criterion seal of approval. One of the best the genre has had to offer this year, the film from Kirsten Johnson will come with a good assortment of extra features, but it’s the movie that’s the star of the show. And that also goes for Pedro Almodovar‘s “Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown,” which gives one of his most beloved films a fresh restoration and a new chance to shine.
Rounding things out is the previously announced “The Tree Of Wooden Clogs” by Ermanno Olmi. If you’re getting a Christmas bonus from work this year, you know where to spend it.
