It seems that every few weeks there’s a new horror movie arriving in theaters starring unknown actors that looks very similar to the horror film that came out last month with other unknown actors. This is a result of the recent boom of micro-budget horror films. Well get ready. There’s a new trailer for the horror film, “Wish Upon”, that stars relatively unknown actors and looks really similar to every other horror film from the last five years.
“Wish Upon” tells the story of a teenage girl who comes into possession of a mysterious box that grants seven wishes. Being an angsty teen, she immediately wishes death upon the b*tchy popular blonde girl. However, after her subsequent wishes for money and love, the consequences of her actions spiral out of control and she learns that the mysterious box wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.
The film stars Joey King, Shannon Purser (RIP Barb from “Stranger Things”), and Ryan Phillippe. It’s interesting to see Phillippe as the father in this film, when twenty years ago he starred in the teen horror classic “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” If you’re like me, and you remember that film’s release, “Wish Upon” has the added bonus of making you feel really old and out of touch.
“Wish Upon” opens in theaters June 30th.
