The Marvel Cinematic Universe has never reached the grim, furrowed brow darkness of their DC Films counterparts, but “Thor” and “Thor: The Dark World” perhaps represent the closest the brand has come to humorlessness. But that all changes with “Thor: Ragnarok,” as director Taika Waititi (“What We Do In The Shadows,” “Hunt For The Wilderpeople“) brings his lively spirit to the proceedings.
The third Thor adventure adds plenty of new faces with Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, and Tessa Thompson joining in on the fun, while fellow Avenger Mark Ruffalo takes a significant co-starring role, in what’s been described as something close to a buddy/road movie. Here’s the official synopsis:
