Summer is in full swing, and that means that “Spider-Man: Homecoming” is almost in theaters. So, it’s no surprise that Sony is pulling out all the marketing stops to promote what is surely going to be one of the biggest films of the year. Part of the marketing homestretch are the two new trailers, one domestic, one international (and quite different from each other) that were just released.
Much like the other trailers before it, these new ones show exactly why fans are getting excited about this upcoming reboot. There’s the action that people come to expect from a “Spider-Man” film, but there’s also the new stuff, like Tom Holland as the very young Peter and Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man. “Spider-Man: Homecoming” takes place in the same universe as “The Avengers” and Sony wants everyone to know that. Whether or not audiences are ready for yet another Spider-Man reboot after just seeing “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” only 3 years ago is anyone’s guess. Odds are people won’t care about if it’s a reboot or not once they see Iron Man on screen.
Tom Holland and Robert Downey, Jr. are the names most associated with the film, but the rest of the cast is pretty stellar. Marisa Tomei, Donald Glover, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, and Michael Keaton also star in the film. ‘Homecoming’ is directed by Jon Watts, and produced by Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige and former Sony head Amy Pascal.
“Spider-Man: Homecoming” comes to theaters July 7th. Watch the trailer below, along with a hideous new poster.
