In a fairly surprising move, Oscar-nominated actress Michelle Williams will be co-starring in Amy Schumer’s next film, “I Feel Pretty.” Normally, Williams is seen as dramatic parts that receive award buzz. Not sure she’ll get the same recognition with this project.
According to Deadline, Williams will play Avery LeClaire, a cosmetic company boss to Amy Schumer’s character. In the film, Schumer plays Renee Bennett, an average woman who hits her head after falling off an exercise bike and begins to believe that she’s suddenly gorgeous. The trick is that everyone around her thinks she looks exactly the same. Hilarity ensues. Bennett then begins to rise up the ranks of a cosmetic company, run by Williams, until the spell wears off. Don’t worry! She learns that true beauty isn’t skin deep.
Schumer is coming off of the disappointing box office and critical performance of her recent film, “Snatched,” and is looking to rebound. No matter the quality of “I Feel Pretty,” it’s safe to say that Michelle Williams will give a pretty great performance. Williams has been nominated for four Academy Awards, including last year’s “Manchester by the Sea,” where she pretty much stole the show from Casey Affleck.
“I Feel Pretty” recently made the news when STXfilms paid $15 million in Cannes for the US rights for the film. That was one of the biggest deals of the festival. ‘Pretty’ is written and directed by Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein, the duo responsible for writing “The Vow” and “How to Be Single,” and they’re making their directorial debut with this film. Production is set to begin in July.
No word yet on an official release date, but it’s safe to say the film will be released sometime in 2018.
