It was only last spring when FX was declaring that another season of “Fargo” might never be on the horizon. “There may never be another ‘Fargo.’ Unless [creator Noah Hawley] has an idea for ‘Fargo’ that he thinks he can make as good as the prior three. I think once people get to the end of this [season] they will find that it is thematically different. It’s really about the moment we live in now,” FX chief John Landgraf had said.
Three months later, Landgraf remained uncertain about the future of the show. “We haven’t heard the idea from Noah for what the fourth season would be. I think what we’ve encouraged Noah to do is think about it and make sure he has something he’s really excited about and has something to believe in. There’s a possibility he won’t have that idea for some time,” he said in August.
Well, things have changed considerably.
At the Television Critics Association‘s winter press tour, Landgraf had a very new and welcome update about that status of the show. “Noah Hawley has told us that he has an idea for a fourth cycle of ‘Fargo.’ The plan is to have that ready for 2019. I’m focused on what’s coming in 2018. The anticipation is there will be another cycle of ‘Fargo’ in 2019,” he said (via THR).
So, it looks like there will be a lot of announcements to come in terms of cast members and more. Meanwhile, if you’re wondering how to spent your time on FX until then: “Atlanta” returns for a new round called “Atlanta Robbin’ Season” on March 1st; Danny Boyle‘s “Trust” lands on March 25th; and “The Americans” is back on March 28th.
