Filmmaker Guillaume Canet Shooting Sequel to 'Little White Lies' With Marion Cotillard

Seven-time César Award nominee Guillaume Canet (“Ne le dis à personne,” aka “Tell No One“) is currently filming the sequel to his hit film, “Les petits mouchoirs” (“Little White Lies“), titled “Nous finirons ensemble” (“We’ll End Up Together“). In 2010, “Little White Lies” grossed over $48 million in France, and was nominated for two César Awards, including one nomination for Gilles Lellouche for Best Supporting Actor, and one nomination for Valérie Bonneton for Best Supporting Actress.

According to a report from Cineuropa, Canet has been shooting “We’ll End Up Together” since March 22 and is sticking with frequent collaborators. Along with his “Rock’n Roll” co-writer, Rodolphe Lauga, Canet crafted a story takes place seven years after the events of “Little White Lies.” After going their separate ways, the group of estranged friends reunites for a surprise birthday party for Max (François Cluzet). Very much wanting to keep the integrity of the successful first film, the French director is bringing back his original ensemble cast, which, on top of Cluzet, Lellouche, and Bonneton, includes Canet’s wife and Oscar winner Marion Cotillard (“La Vie en Rose“), Laurent LafitteBenoît Magimel, and Pascale Arbillot. The original cast will be joined by new castmembers Clémentine Baert and José Garcia.

“The motivation to launch a sequel was not immediate,” “We’ll End up Together’s” producer, Alain Attal of Trésor Films told Premiere Magazine. “After the incredible adventure of ‘Little White Lies,’ Guillaume repulsed the idea for a long time because it did not seem essential to him. The desire [to make a sequel] has come after years of an impossibility to separate himself from his characters. They remained in him.”

Trésor Films is financing “We’ll End up Together. Canet will shoot the film over 10 weeks in Gironde, France. Christophe Offenstein, who worked with Canet on “Tell No One,” will assist the project as the cinematographer.

“We’ll End up Together” doesn’t currently have a release date, but it is expected to be released sometime in 2019.
