French Musicians M83 To Compose Score For Cannes Film ‘Knife + Heart’

It looks like French musicians M83 are making their way back to the feature film space for the first time since 2013. The group signed on to compose the score for two films that year, the first was the big-budget Tom Cruise sci-fi flop, “Oblivion.” The second film was the lesser-known Cannes film “You and the Night” from filmmaker Yann Gonzalez. For their third score, it looks like M83 is teaming up with Gonzalez yet again.

In a Facebook post by M83, the group announced they would be producing the score for the upcoming film “Un Couteau Dans Le Coeur (Knife+Heart)” by Yann Gonzalez. Like “You and the Night,” “Un Couteau Dans Le Coeur” is scheduled to have its world premiere as part of the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.

The team-up between Gonzalez and M83 is a bit of a family endeavor. You see, Yann Gonzalez is brothers with M83 founder (and primary musician) Anthony Gonzalez. Definitely can’t blame Yann for wanting to use his brother as a composer, especially considering M83’s music has always had a cinematic feel to it.

“Un Couteau Dans Le Coeur” stars Vanessa Paradis as a porn producer in the ‘70s who wants to make a legitimate film. However, during that film’s production, a serial killer begins murdering the cast. Not much else is known about the film, as we don’t have a trailer yet. All that we have is the poster (seen below).

“Un Couteau Dans Le Coeur” will premiere at Cannes in May.

In the heart of the demonic Paris of the late 70s, Anne (Vanessa Paradis) made a career by producing pornographic films. To find the favors of his companion, Loïs (Kate Moran), Anne decides to change by financing a much more ambitious film, which she entrusts the direction to Archibald (Nicolas Maury). But a mysterious serial killer thwarts her plans and attacks all the actors involved in the project.
