It’s only been two weeks since Marvel Studios unleashed “Avengers: Infinity War” on a superhero-loving public. You would think that releasing another major superhero film only a couple weeks later might be a bit anti-climactic. Well, that’s definitely not the case for “Deadpool 2.” The sequel is projected to have a huge opening weekend, and judging by the first reactions from critics, the film is going to hit all the right notes with fans of the original.
Consider “Deadpool 2” a bit of a palate cleanser. After the death and destruction wrought by Thanos, we have Josh Brolin coming back to the superhero world, but as a sorta, kinda good guy Cable. Even though he seems to be giving Deadpool and his newly formed X-Force a run for their money, historically, Cable has been a good guy, so don’t expect Brolin to have the same meanness from ‘Infinity War’ in this film. Plus, with Ryan Reynolds cracking off-color jokes left and right, it’s obvious that the folks over at Fox are going for a different tone than the world-ending seriousness that was ‘Avengers.’
And as we mentioned, critics seem to be eating it up. While reviews are embargoed still, the people who were able to watch early screenings hit Twitter to offer their thoughts on the film. And it looks like, for the most part, the superhero sequel was able to capture the feel of the original “Deadpool” while turning everything up a notch.
Our own Rodrigo Perez has this to say about the film (full review coming soon!), “The proper #Deadpool2 reaction: Overkill maximalism in every sense, but it’s entertaining nonetheless. Hard-R violent mayhem that is filthier and funnier (and sometimes much more serious and melodramatic). Hilarious cameos and lol post-credit scenes.” Read many more reactions below!
Plus, we have a new trailer for the film, featuring none other than David Beckham. Now, if you’re curious why David Beckham is part of a “Deadpool 2” trailer, then you clearly don’t remember the silly joke about the world-famous athlete from the first film. Needless to say, as seen in the trailer, Deadpool has some apologizing to do. But funny enough, Beckham would rather the actor apologize for films like “Green Lantern,” “RIPD,” “Selfless,” and the lesser-seen “Boltneck.”
“Boltneck was a masterpiece!”, Reynolds shouts.
The trailer is yet another quality entry in the marketing for the film, and well worth your time:
The proper #Deadpool2 reaction: Overkill maximalism in every sense, but it's entertaining nonetheless. Hard-R violent mayhem that is filthier and funnier (and sometimes much more serious and melodramatic). Hilarious cameos and lol post-credit scenes.

Just saw #Deadpool2. Safe to say it features the best post credits scene EVER. I’m still recovering.

Talk about fun! That's what #deadpool2 is! Balls out blast. Zazie Beetz is a total badass! Soundtrack is a killer. Loads of film references

#Deadpool2 is just as fun as the first one. The novelty isn’t quite on the same level, but it’s still a riot. Plus, it has the best post credits sequence ever. @deadpoolmovie @VancityReynolds @RhettReese

So, #DEADPOOL2 is the perfect sequel. Doubles down on everything that fans love about the original, and fixes some of that film's issues. Huge, huge laughs that play the audience like a fiddle. @VancityReynolds destroys as Wade. Great action, fantastic comic nods. A killer ride! pic.twitter.com/KaM8gUT2Jf

Happy to report 'Deadpool 2' is a lot of fun and had me laughing beginning to end. Stuff after the credits is *awesome*. All the people added to the film were perfectly cast. Avoid spoilers. Always makes it a better experience. pic.twitter.com/4Q3Kr1ARPh

Guys, #Deadpool2 is CRAZY. You are not prepared for how wild this movie is. I’m surprised it got an R-rating. Bonkers that a major studio released this thing. In one scene Deadpool humps a photo of Kanye West

Alright, I guess the social media embargo is up? In that case: #Deadpool2 is better than the first film in literally every single way. I don't care for the first DEADPOOL at all, but this one hooked me. Script is threadbare, but it's so consistently funny that it didn't matter.

#Deadpool2 is no doubt the most violent major release since Kill Bill Volume 1. It’s also funnier than the first and has me genuinely excited for a sequel. Oh and it features a ton of Canada jokes, so of course I loved it.

I didn't like the first Deadpool. DEADPOOL 2 beat me into submission until I was actually enjoying myself. Also it features my now favorite post credit scene.

I liked DEADPOOL 2 more than the first one (which I wasn’t a huge fan of). Slow to start but all the stuff with X-Force and Cable (and Peter!) works surprisingly well.
