Matt Damon hasn’t had a huge hit for a while. In the last year, the actor appeared in high-profile films such as “Deadpool 2,” “Unsane,” and “Thor: Ragnarok” but only in cameos. And his 2017 starring roles in “Suburbicon” and “Downsizing” seemed to have the potential to be real awards contenders, but just fell flat. Now, Damon is teaming up with “A Quiet Place” director John Krasinski on a project that is sure to give Damon a film on the caliber of his 2015 hit “The Martian“…hopefully.

Krasinski and Damon have some shared history aside from both the stars being from Massachusetts. The pair worked together on the 2012 film “Promised Land” directed by Gus Van Sant. They also worked together on the story for Kenneth Lonergan’s “Manchester by the Sea.” Krasinski can be seen in “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” appearing on Amazon August 31. There is no release date scheduled for “The King of Oil” at this time, as deals are still being agreed upon. But fans of Damon can look forward to seeing him back on the screen for a dramatic role soon.
