Metacritic's Worst Films Of 2018 Features A Film That Scored The Worst Rating In History

End of the year lists are subjective. Like film/TV criticism in general, these Top 10s are mainly just formed from a single person (or sometimes a small group) and don’t really have any scientific data to back them up. But if there’s one list that aims to be the most objective, it’s the Worst Films list from Metacritic. Utilizing the aggregate scores that the site is known for, Metacritic has officially presented the 15 films that ranked the lowest in 2018.

Winning (or is it losing?) the distinction this year of having the single worst film is Dinesh D’Souza and his movie “Death of a Nation.” However, unlike previous years, which has seen some truly terrible movies sit as the worst of the year, “Death of a Nation” holds a unique distinction. You see, D’Souza’s film is not only the worst film of 2018, but holds the Metacritic ranking as the worst film in the site’s history. Out of the 11,819 films scored on Metacritic, “Death of a Nation” ranks as #11,819. Ouch.

Also making the list of the worst of the year is the winner of our Worst of 2018, “London Fields.” MoviePass Films debuted in 2018, and with it, the production company released two of the worst films of the year, with its Bruce Willis thriller “Reprisal” and the infamous “Gotti.”

And it wouldn’t be a “Worst Of” list without at least one Nicolas Cage film, right? Hey, in a year that brought us “Mandy” and “Mom and Dad,” Cage can suffer a blow like this and still rise above. His “211” comes in as the #7 worst film of 2018.

You can view the entire list below, which features some of the films that you’d probably imagine it would. The thing about Metacritic’s list is that you really can’t argue with science. And in a world of subjective reviews, this list is about the most concrete one you’ll find.
