Disney+ hasn’t even launched yet, but the Disney CEO is confident that things are going to work out for the best when the streaming service begins its run in November. The studio has spent hundreds of millions of dollars already on content for the service from banners like Marvel Studios, Pixar, and Lucasfilm, and it appears that its still full speed ahead. That means the studio is already talking to the aforementioned Lucasfilm about expanding its “Star Wars” footprint on the service.
According to a recent talk given by Disney CEO Bob Iger (via Attractions), the executive says that there are plans for one more live-action “Star Wars” series from Lucasfilm that will join the already announced “The Mandalorian” and “Cassian Andor.”

Of course, given that this is Lucasfilm and “Star Wars,” no plot details were even hinted at, but the studio is showing supreme confidence that fans of the galaxy far, far away are going to flock to Disney+ in the future. And the Mouse House is probably not wrong, especially considering that after 2019, the film franchise is being put on hold for three years.
As for what we already know, “The Mandalorian” is set to debut alongside Disney+ in November and features a story based on a bounty hunter in the fringes of the galaxy. The series is led by actor Pedro Pascal and is created and showrun by Jon Favreau, who brought on an incredible group of directors to help shape the first season.
Joining “The Mandalorian” sometime in the future, likely 2020, is a series based on the character of Cassian Andor, who was introduced to fans in 2016’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” Clearly, judging by the outcome of that spin-off film, “Cassian” will be a prequel series that shows what the rogue-ish hero was up to before getting mixed up with Jyn Erso and the ragtag crew from the film. The series was announced late last year and will see the return of actor Diego Luna.
As we said, there’s no word on what this new series might be, but the possibilities are truly endless. Perhaps, it will fill in the gaps between the end of the Skywalker Saga and the beginning of whatever comes next? Or maybe it’ll be another prequel focusing on a character from the new trilogy? Or something completely different. We’ll have to wait and see. But until then, let the speculation begin!
We can expect one more live-action #StarWars series to come to Disney+ beyond the Cassian Andor series and #TheMandalorian. $DIS
