The Avengers Honor Tony Stark, Gamora's Fate Is Revealed & More In New 'Endgame' Deleted Scenes

Just when you thought it was safe to talk about films without mentioning “Avengers: Endgame,” Marvel Studios has decided now’s the perfect time to release the film on digital platforms, and in a couple of weeks, on Blu-ray, as well. That means we finally get a chance to see what exactly the Russo Brothers actually cut from their 3+ hour epic film.

During the publicity tour for the film, the directing duo told people that there actually weren’t many scenes that didn’t make it into the film. By the time they reached editing ‘Endgame,’ they had already pared down the script to the essentials and only had a few minutes of deleted scenes. And judging by the six scenes that have been released, it’s clear that much of what was left on the cutting room floor was just little bits that enhanced scenes that were already in the film.

Perhaps the one scene that will get people talking the most is the “Take a Knee” clip. Not only does it add more emotional weight to the surprise death at the end of the film, but it also shows what happens to Gamora. For those that don’t remember, ‘Endgame’ introduced a new time-displaced version of the popular Guardian of the Galaxy but never showed what happened to her once Tony Stark defeated Thanos. In the clip, we see that when the rest of the Avengers mourn, Gamora sneaks away, presumably in a way that will allow James Gunn to explore it further in the third ‘Guardians’ film.

The other clips that have been revealed add more to the scenes with Tony and Howard Stark, Tony and Pepper Potts, and Tony and Rocket. In addition, there’s a scene with Rocket and Thicc Thor, as well as a quick scene between Rhodey and Captain America, where the former asks the latter why he didn’t just jump out of the plane during WWII instead of unnecessarily sacrificing himself, effectively calling out “Captain America: The First Avenger” for having a frustrating ending.

Overall, your opinion of ‘Endgame’ won’t be swayed one way or another with these clips, but fans of the film will likely enjoy seeing some added dialogue and quick scenes that just would have extended the already massive run-time of the theatrical release.

As mentioned, “Avengers: Endgame” is on digital platforms today and will be released on Blu-ray, 4K, and DVD on August 13.
