Have you ever watched one of the ‘Bourne’ spy movies with Matt Damon and wondered what it would be like to see a version of the story without the star and with more than one spy? Well, USA Network has you covered. Let’s just hope that “Treadstone” is a better spin-off than Damon-less ‘Bourne Legacy.’ No offense, Jeremy Renner.
As seen in the first teaser for “Treadstone,” the series takes the basic premise of the various ‘Bourne’ films –seemingly normal citizen “awakens” and is now a badass superspy– and applies it to, at least, two new characters. One of which appears to be the lead, who definitely is not Matt Damon, and the other is an Asian woman that appears to have familial ties to the title organization.

USA is claiming that “Treadstone” is an “event series,” which is the new term used to pump up and add hype to what would have been called a “miniseries” any other day. However, it’s obvious that there are high hopes riding on “Treadstone” to become a hit that will likely lead to more ‘Bourne’ spin-offs or at least a Season 2 of this series.
The ‘Bourne’ spin-off stars Jeremy Irvine, Brian J. Smith, Omar Metwally, Tracy Igeachor, Han Hyo-joo, Michael Gaston, and Michelle Forbes. “Treadstone” was developed by “Heroes” creator Tim Kring. Other than “Heroes,” Kring is probably known for his early-2000s hit, “Crossing Jordan.” Most recently, he worked on “Beyond,” “Dig,” and “Touch,” which are all currently not on the air.
“Treadstone” is expected to premiere on USA Network in October.
