Almost a full year ago, back in January, we found out that acting legend, Al Pacino, was signed on to star in the new series “Hunters” (formerly titled, “The Hunt”). What would be enough to convince Pacino to make the jump into serialized TV? Well, the new show is produced by Jordan Peele, and that’s enough information for most people to sign on.
And to further tease the series, Amazon released an official teaser for “Hunters,” focused on the man himself, Pacino. The short clip doesn’t do much to tell you about the plot but does give audiences a quick taste of the accent that the actor is using in this tale of Nazi hunters in 1977 New York City. And yes, it sure does sound like Pacino is going all out for this role.
“Hunters” is created by David Weil, who wrote the series and will executive produce alongside Nikki Toscano. The series marks Weil’s first foray into film and TV, with only some spec scripts under his belt previously, including the sci-fi film “Moonfall.” But apparently, there was something special about him, as “Hunters” has the support of Peele and stars Pacino alongside up-and-coming actor Logan Lerman.
Jordan Peele has dove headfirst into the era of Peak TV over the last year. His Monkey Paw productions has a myriad of TV projects that have either already premiered or are set to arrive in the next year or so. 2019 saw the release of his highly-anticipated, star-studded reboot of “The Twilight Zone.” In addition, he also found time to write and direct one of the biggest films of the year, “Us.”
“Hunters” is set to debut on Amazon Prime Video sometime in 2020.
Here’s the synopsis:
From Executive Producer Jordan Peele, Hunters, follows a rag-tag team of Nazi Hunters on their quest for righteous revenge in 1977 New York City.
