The Screen Actors Guild announced the nominess for the 26th SAG Awards and the big winners across both film and television were “The Irishman,” “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, “Jojo Rabbit,” “The Morning Show, “Bombshell” and, “Jojo Rabbit.” Oh, and “Parasite” which became just the second film not completely in the English language to earn a SAG Ensemble nomination. It was quite a morning.

This year’s Motion Picture Ensemble honor was one of the most competitive in years. “Jojo Rabbit,” “The Irishman,” “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood,” “Bombshell” and “Parasite” were the lucky nominees. “Marriage Story,” “Knives Out,” “Little Women,” “Ford v. Ferrari,” “The Farewell,” “The Two Popes,” “Us,” “1917” and “Dolemite Is My Name” missed the cut. Overall, “Little Women,” “Knives Out” and “The Farewell” were completely shut out of all categories which has to be woriesome for the film’s Oscar chances. The actors branch is the largest in the Academy and while not all SAG members are AMPAS members, almost all AMPAS members in the acting branch are SAG members.
Other unexpected film nominations included Nicole Kidman in the Supporting Actress category for “Bombshell” (it earned four nods overall) and Jamie Foxx in the Supporting Actor field for “Just Mercy.”
On the television side, Apple TV Plus’ “The Morning Show” took three nods for Steve Carell, Billy Crudup and Jennifer Aniston, respectively, but was left out of the Drama Series ensemble category. Those lucky programs included “Game of Thrones,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Big Little Lies,” “The Crown” and “Stranger Things.” HBO’s critically lauded hit “Watchmen” was completely shut out.
“Barry,” “Fleabag,” “The Kominsky Method,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and “Schitt’s Creek” headlined the Comedy Series Ensemble nominees. Catherine O’Hara earned a Oustanding Actress in a Comedy Series nod for “Schitt’s Creek” while Christina Applegate duplicated her Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for “Dead to Me” in the same category.
