Eliza Scanlen, Thomasin McKenzie, Vicky Krieps & More Join M. Night Shyamalan's Next Film

M. Night Shyamalan has spent the last five years reinventing himself from blockbuster filmmaker to low-budget genre auteur, thanks to films such as “The Visit” and “Split.” And with that resurgence, it appears that the filmmaker is able to attract quite an impressive cast.

According to Variety, Shyamalan is rounding out the cast of his upcoming, untitled film for Universal. The report claims that Eliza Scanlen, Thomasin McKenzie, Aaron Pierre, Alex Wolff, and Vicky Krieps are all in negotiations to star in the next feature from the director. As is expected with modern Shyamalan films, the plot and details about the film are kept tightly under wraps, so it’s unclear what roles these actors might portray. That being said, it’s a pretty damn good cast.

Scanlen is probably best known for her role in last year’s “Little Women,” as well as roles in “Sharp Objects” and the upcoming indie, “Babyteeth.” McKenzie has been quickly becoming one of the most recognizable young actors in Hollywood, with incredible roles in “Jojo Rabbit,” “Leave No Trace,” and the upcoming Edgar Wright film, “Last Night in Soho.”

Alex Wolff has been featured in both recent ‘Jumanji’ sequels and probably is most recognizable for his incredible performance in Ari Aster’sHereditary.” And of course, Krieps is the scene-stealing co-star of Daniel Day-Lewis in Paul Thomas Anderson’sPhantom Thread.”

Overall, even without knowing a title, plot, or roles, the cast alone is enough to suggest that Shyamalan has something interesting cooking. Hopefully, whatever it is, it’s better than his most recent feature, “Glass,” which was a box office hit but failed to impress critics and many film fans.

The untitled thriller is currently without a release date, as it was pulled from the calendar due to COVID-19 delays.
