There’s no denying Oscar Isaac is one of the best actors working today. And for his next project, he’s teaming up with one of the most well-known comedic actor-filmmakers, Ben Stiller, who has been making a name for himself on the dramatic side, for what is being described as a tense thriller, titled “London.”

According to Lionsgate, the studio has secured the rights for “London,” a new film based on the thriller by acclaimed author Jo Nesbo. Details of the plot are being kept under wraps, but the film will star Oscar Isaac and will be directed by Stiller. “London” is adapted by Oscar-nominated writer, Eric Roth.
“This is an incredible team of filmmaking that has come together for this project,” said Erin Westerman, president of Production for the Lionsgate. “Eric is a master storyteller whose screenplays are canonized in film history; Ben’s work as a filmmaker, including his latest accomplishment, ‘Escape at Dannemora,’ is astounding; Oscar is a force in all that he does, both behind and in front of the camera. As Eric adapts Jo Nesbo’s evocative and memorable short story into an incredible film, we’re confident that Ben will bring all of the tension and emotion in directing London – and Oscar will not only give a riveting and dynamic performance, but as the producer leading the process to bring this team together, has an incredible energy and passion for the material. As fans, we are thrilled this tour de force of talent came together for such a compelling story, and as a studio, we are honored they chose Lionsgate.”

As mentioned, Isaac is one of the most acclaimed actors working today, best known for films such as “Inside Llewyn Davis,” “Ex Machina,” and, of course, the most recent “Star Wars” sequel trilogy. He’ll next be seen in the upcoming “Dune” from filmmaker Denis Villeneuve, as well as “The Card Counter” from Paul Schrader.
Stiller is definitely more known for his comedic work, but in recent years, he’s been expanding his work to include more dramatic projects. His most recent directorial effort is the miniseries “Escape at Dannemora,” which won a ton of awards including a DGA Award for Stiller.
It’s unclear when we might see “London” arrive in theaters, but clearly this is a project we’ll want to keep an eye on.
