‘Futha Mucka’: Ryan Reynolds Is Samuel L. Jackson’s Caregiver In A New Quibi Animated Series

When launching a new streaming service, there seems to be a pretty simple (at least, on the surface) formula for success. You combine a healthy library of well-known titles with a bunch of new original series/films featuring A-list actors and/or big-name filmmakers. In Quibi’s case, without a library, the platform has launched with a huge selection of talented stars and filmmakers to bring the “quick bite” content to a large audience. So far, it hasn’t been going so hot. But still, Quibi persists, as with the new series “Futha Mucka.”

According to Variety, “Futha Mucka” is the latest attempt by Quibi to entice paying subscribers to the new streaming service. The show is an animated comedy featuring the vocal talents of Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson with a pretty strange, meta premise. With Reynolds and Jackson attached, you know the series is going to be a bit silly. And the official synopsis definitely fits the bill:

“Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds love each other. More accurately, Ryan loves Sam. When asked for comment on his feelings for Ryan, Sam said “tell them I couldn’t be reached for comment.” When a minor mishap causes Sam to become Ryan’s primary caregiver, shit gets weird. Ryan is delighted to spend all of his time with Sam. Sam couldn’t be reached for comment.”

This show is not the first time the duo have worked together. Previously, Reynolds and Jackson teamed up for “The Hitman’s Bodyguard.” They’re also set to reteam for the sequel, which is likely going to be released in 2021.

“Futha Mucka” also has some serious comedic credibility since it’s created by “Blockers” writers Jim and Brian Kehoe. The duo will also serve as producers and showrunners of the new Quibi show.

Not much is known about when we might see “Futha Mucka” on the streaming service, but we’re sure there will be plenty of Ryan Reynolds-led marketing warning us.
