Whenever a new Martin Scorsese film enters production, you better believe film fans around the world grow excited. But when you add Leonardo DiCaprio to the mix, collaborating with the filmmaker for the first time since 2013 (“The Wolf of Wall Street“), it’s almost too much excitement for our little hearts to contain. Well, luckily, even though filming is still underway, we have our first look at DiCaprio in “Killers of the Flower Moon” to help hold us over for a while longer.
Debuting at Vanity Fair, we get our first look at DiCaprio and his co-star Lily Gladstone in the forthcoming period film about a serial killer case in Oklahoma that coincided with the creation of the FBI. In the film, DiCaprio plays Ernest Burkhart, a cattleman in 1920s Oklahoma that plays a very significant role in the crimes against members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation.
DiCaprio and Gladstone are joined by Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Michael Abbott Jr., Pat Healy, Scott Shepherd, Tatanka Means, Tattoo Cardinal, Jason Isbell, and Sturgill Simpson in the cast.
Apple has yet to announce a release date for the film, with some fans hoping the feature debuts before the end of the year. However, we have to remember that Scorsese isn’t necessarily the fastest filmmaker around, so it would make more sense that we see “Killers of the Flower Moon” in 2022. You can see the first-look image below.
Here’s the synopsis for the film:
Hailing from Apple Studios and directed and produced by multi-award-winner Martin Scorsese, “Killers of the Flower Moon” is based on David Grann’s highly praised best-seller. Set in 1920s Oklahoma, “Killers of the Flower Moon” depicts the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, a string of brutal crimes that came to be known as the Reign of Terror.
