When you’re a massive multi-hyphenate celebrity, conquering music, films, and TV, like Jamie Foxx, your dreams are infiltrated by good ideas, apparently. This probably explains why I’m not a massive A-lister—my dreams are useless and nonsensical. Damn.
According to a recent profile in Men’s Health, Jamie Foxx talked about the things that motivate him to continue the various projects he’s working on. And in explaining, he talked about two ideas for films that he’s written but hasn’t really moved forward with just yet.
“Opportunity gets me moving. Great idea, then I went to sleep and I woke up and that shit was in my dream,” Foxx explained. “Now, I wrote the Black ‘Ocean’s Eleven,’ or I just rewrote ‘Misery.’”
While he didn’t get into detail about what his idea for a Black “Ocean’s Eleven” might look like, Foxx did talk about his idea for “Misery.” For those unaware, “Misery” tells the story of a writer who is taken hostage by an obsessed fan who tortures him and forces him to work on a book. Foxx’s inspiration for his reworking of the Stephen King-based story comes from an experience he had with a couple that won an evening with him from a charity auction.
He added, “You know what an actor loves more than money? Compliments. I was supposed to be there for 30 minutes. I ended up staying there for two hours—doing shit from ‘Ray.’ But then it got weird. So I built upon that.”
Clearly, Foxx is the type of person that loves to have a number of projects on his slate. So, even before it’s possible to think about when he might put serious thought into those two films, he has a huge lineup of films and TV series that he is already filming and/or in active development on. Of course, superhero fans know he’s rumored to appear in “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” But in addition, he’s working on a TV series based on the life of Mike Tyson, and there are films such his new Netflix vampire feature, “Day Shift,” and a new film from Nick Cassavetes.
Basically, don’t expect his remakes of “Ocean’s Eleven” and “Misery” anytime soon, if at all.
