According to The New Yorker, Kristen Stewart is set to have a “small” role in the upcoming “Irma Vep” remake series, which is slated to arrive on HBO eventually. The series is based on Assayas’ film of the same name and tells the story of a filmmaker attempting to remake Louis Feuillade’s classic silent film serial “Les Vampires.” The series has a cast that includes Alicia Vikander, Adria Arjona, Carrie Brownstein, Jerrod Carmichael, Fala Chen, Devon Ross, Byron Bowers, and Tom Sturridge

Details about Stewart’s role are unknown at this time. But again, the series will be the latest collaboration between the actor and Assayas, as they previously worked together on acclaimed films such as “Clouds of Sils Maria” and “Personal Shopper.” The former seeing Stewart take home the César Award for Best Supporting Actress.

While not much else is known about the “Irma Vep” remake series, other than it’s a new take on the 1996 film, we do know that Assayas is returning to write and direct the A24-produced series. The original “Irma Vep” debuted in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival 25 years ago and went on to receive near-universal acclaim. The series is the latest foreign-language project to get the English-language remake treatment, as we’ve seen happen with recent features such as “After the Wedding,” “Downhill,” and “Gloria Bell.”

A release date for “Irma Vep” has yet to be announced.
