'Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre' Trailer: Guy Ritchie's Latest Spy Film Pits Jason Statham & Josh Harnett Against Hugh Grant

Guy Ritchie is on a tear right now. After the director’s puzzling choice to helm Disney‘s live-action remake of “Aladdin,” he’s released two films in rapid succession: “The Gentlemen,” his most critically acclaimed film since 2002’s “Snatch,” and then this year’s reunion with Jason Statham, “Wrath Of Man.” He also has plenty more projects on the way.

Fans won’t have to wait long for Ritchie’s next release, as “Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre” hits theaters in 2022. The new film sees a lot of familiar faces from Ritchie’s last two films return for his latest spy caper, this one an undercover mission that recruits a Hollywood leading man to derail an arms dealer’s plan to sell a dangerous weapon.

Here’s the film’s official synopsis:

In the film, super-spy Orson Fortune (Jason Statham) must track down and stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology wielded by billionaire arms broker Greg Simmonds (Hugh Grant). Reluctantly teamed with some of the world’s best operatives (Aubrey Plaza, Cary Elwes, Bugzy Malone), Fortune and his crew recruit Hollywood’s biggest movie star Danny Francesco (Josh Hartnett) to help them on their globe-trotting undercover mission to save the world.

“Operation Fortune” stars Jason Statham as Orson Fortune, Josh Hartnett as his Hollywood recruit Danny Francesco and Hugh Grant as the arms dealer Greg Simmonds.  Aubrey Plaza, Cary Elwes, and Lourdes Faberes also star, as does British rapper Bugsy Malone, who had a supporting role in “The Gentlemen.”

Ritchie shot “Fortune” on the fly this year in the U.K., Turkey, and Qatar. The director shows no signs of slowing down, either. “The Interpreter” comes next, a military drama that reportedly stars Jake Gyllenhaal, followed by “The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare,” and his TV series continuation of “The Gentlemen” for MiramaxTV. The just-announced “Aladdin 2” is also on the horizon.

Will “Operation Fortune” continue the Guy Ritchie renaissance?  Audiences find out next year. Check out the film’s trailer below.
