'Starstruck' Season 2 Trailer: Rose Matafeo's Charming UK RomCom Series Returns With Romance Beyond Flings

What happens when people with very different paths find romance? The concept was explored in season one of HBO Max’s “Starstruck.” Now, the series is back to continuing the story of Jessie (Rose Matafeo) and Tom (Nikesh Patel). Picking up where the first season left off, Jessie is coming to terms with the decision to stay with her movie star boyfriend instead of pursuing a path she planned. It’s not as easy as it sounds; being exposed to the scrutiny of his family and friends is often more complex than anything the public could speculate about.

The new season sees Matafeo and Patel reprise their roles of the star-crossed couple. For Matafeo, the performance continues to win raves while building up a following for the series’ star. She’s not the only cast member to draw attention. Notably returning to “Starstruck” is actress Minnie Driver as Tom’s determined agent Cath. Russell Tovey—a new addition to the cast—is far from a stranger to TV. Recent appearances from the actor include series such as “Supergirl” and “The Sister.” Emma Sidi, Joe Barnes, Al Roberts, Ambreen Razia, Alice Snedden, Lola-Rose Maxwell, Nic Sampson, Edward Easton, Parth Thakerar, and Jordan Stephens also star.

The series’ official synopsis:

Hailed as a “charmer” by The New York Times and “the breakout star of 2021” by The Guardian, Matafeo returns to play Jessie in Starstruck, a millennial living in East London navigating the complications of becoming romantically involved with Tom (Nikesh Patel), a famous film star. The season two ensemble cast also includes Minnie Driver and Russell Tovey. Season one is currently streaming on HBO Max.
