It’s been seven years since Michel Gondry‘s last feature, 2015’s “Microbe & Gasoline,” a tale of two tinkering teens who build a makeshift vehicle and hit the road for an adventure. Now, Gondry’s next directing adventure emerges on the stuffed film market of this year’s Cannes Film Festival. While plot details are slim, a new Gondry film makes a hot item, and seller Kinology no doubt expects a solid payout.

What do we know about the project so far? It’s a French-language comedy entitled “The Book Of Solutions,” and rising French cinema star Pierre Niney, of “Frantz,” “Yves Saint Laurent,” and the upcoming “Mascarade,” will star. The film also stars Blanche Gardin, Camille Rutherford, Frankie Wallach, and Vincent Elbaz. As for the plot? The film’s about a filmmaker attempting to overcome his creative demons.
“The Book Of Solutions” marks a reunion between Gondry and producer Georges Bermann. Bermann produced three of Gondry’s most acclaimed films: 2004’s breakout “Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind,” 2006’s “The Science Of Sleep,” and 2008’s “Be Kind Rewind.”
Kinology has a few other things on sale at Cannes this year. The most buzzworthy might be Bertrand Bonello‘s latest, “The Beast,” which stars George Mackay and Léa Seydoux. Kinology also has not one but two upcoming Luc Besson projects for sale, too: “DogMan,” starring Caleb Landry Jones, and a more experimental project, “June And John.”
