Asger Leth's 'Waterbug' To Shoot This May With Josh Brolin

Josh Brolin’s teaming with Asger Leth in their project based on 1993 Italian film “La Scorta” will go behind the cameras this May in Mexico.

Originally a remake, “Waterbug” as it’s now known soon developed into a different story centering a man on a mission to protect his son after his wife is brutally murdered in the gritty world of Mexican drug cartels.

Sean Penn was also originally set to portray Brolin’s lead character before taking a sabbatical from acting for personal reasons (from which he’s now returned).

The film is scribed by Peter Craig (Ben Affleck’s “The Town”) and will be Leth’s feature film directorial debut after his 2006 documentary “Ghosts of Cité Soleil” about gangs in the Haitian slums.
