Trailer For Of Montreal's Tour Documentary 'Family Nouveau'

While Of Montreal found popular success with their David Bowie-meets-Prince funk and fantasy freakouts, this writer remembers the band when they were writing fey little pop concept albums like “The Gay Parade” and “Coquelicot Asleep In The Poppies: A Variety Of Whimsical Verse.”

Well, the band is all grown up now and the cardboard cutouts that used to decorate their live show have been replaced with feather boas, confetti and lots and lots of make-up and costumes. In case you couldn’t make it to one of their shows during their recent bout of incessant touring, the band has a tour documentary “Family Nouveau” in the can that will help you get your fix.

The film was directed by Spenser Simrill Jr., documented the band’s 2009 European tour and will be premiering at the Chicago International Festival Of Music And Movies on March 5th. Check out the push-up heavy trailer below.
