We surely all remember Harmony Korine’s recently (and somewhat secretively) announced new bizzaro and demented-sounding film called “Trash Humpers.”
Premiering at TIFF 2009, the oddball, lo-fi project evidently features “creepy masks, low-grade torture, frequent public urination, senseless vandalism and the title, acted out on defenseless garbage cans, all have a confrontational panache about them to be sure. But the film is also full of poetry, dance, song and moments of aching poignancy.”
The principal cast is listed as Rachel Korine (the director’s wife, also featured in “Mister Lonely”), Brian Kotzue, Travis Nicholson and Korine himself. Wait, we still haven’t really figured out what this experimental film is about, right? Though narrative might not be the focal point if Korine’s past films are any indication. So what does the trailer tell us? That the film is a backwoods home-movie about freaks? Sure, something like that…
