Marion Cotillard In Rob Marshall's 'Nine,' Simon Pegg To Lead John Landis' 'Burke And Hare,' First Look: Natalie Portman In 'Your Highness'

We recently noted with disappointment the lack of Marion Cotillard in publicity thus far for Rob Marshall’s “Nine.” But our prayers have subsequently been answered, with a new glimpse at her along with Daniel Day-Lewis and Nicole Kidman. That first image just says it all doesn’t it? Word also has it Cotillard is in line for a Best Actress nom. [AwardsDaily]

Simon Pegg is set to lead John Landis’ black comedy “Burke And Hare,” based on the West Port Murders in Edinburgh, Scotland made famous by the fact that the murderers sold the bodies of their 17 victims to the Edinburgh Medical College for dissection. Looks like that Scottish accent Pegg learned for “Star Trek” will come to good use. [DreadCentral]

Wes Anderson’s “The Fantastic Mr. Fox” has been bumped back a touch and will now hit theaters on November 25th while Jason Reitman’s “Up In The Air” is reportedly eyeing December 4 as a potential release. Update: Though according to Box-Office Mojo, ‘Fantastic Fox’ still has a November 13 limited release date and November 25 is its wide releas date. [ComingSoon]

Could this be the first look at Natalie Portman in David Gordon Green’s “Your Highness”? The image reportedly claims to be and it certainly looks like her or a body double. At the very least, the image seems to be an early look at “Highness” which is shooting at the moment in Ireland. A friend of ours did a set visit recently and described similar things (plus a lot of other hilarious stuff we should save for now) that you see here, so we’re pretty sure it’s her. For a man whose been only linked to a “Superman” reboot, James McTeigue certainly has a lot to say. “I think if I was ever going to go near Superman, I would do a complete reboot—take it in a direction that you would absolutely not expect, actually,” McTeigue cheekily said. “So, that would be my thinking on it if I was ever going to go near Superman. I think it’s good that they just had a court case where, basically, if you make another Superman movie, you can’t touch Superman growing up — that’s part of the story that you can’t touch any more.” [MTV]

Scarlett Johansson recently discussed her upcoming role as Black Widow in “Iron Man 2” and any potential Marvel films. “I hope I get to come back and do it again,” she said. “The character certainly comes back. We see that she does in the comics and certainly she is a big part of ‘The Avengers.’ I don’t know if that is where it’s going to go but she is definitely a big part of ‘The Avengers.'” Just hope Marvel don’t do a Terrence Howard on you. Sam Worthington has admitted that it was news to him when McG revealed a desire to bring the actor on board for his adaptation of “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.” “I actually saw that online [and I’m] like ‘hey, how come you’ve never talked to me about this?” Worthington said. “We haven’t discussed [the prospect of me playing Nemo] seriously. I wrote him an email and he wrote back saying ‘I don’t think you have these qualities, blah, blah..’ and I wrote back saying ‘it’s your job as a director to bring it out of me.’” Haha, cop that McG. Todd MacFarlane, the creator of “Spawn,” is reportedly teaming with Basil Iwanyk to produce a “darker and more action-packed” modern day sequel to “The Wizard Of Oz.” They’re kidding, right? Of the project, MacFarlane noted “you’ve still got Dorothy trapped in an odd place, but she’s much closer to the Ripley character from ‘Alien’ [Sigourney Weaver] than a helpless singing girl.” Iwanyk added that “it will be set in the present day and feature Dorothy’s granddaughter.” Fortunately for all of us, with McFarlane involved, it’s likely no one will actually give him the rights to do this. He should just learn to give it up already. [DailyExpress]
