Here is your first look at the cast of Jason Reitman’s corporate-downsizing dramedy “Up In The Air,” starring Vera Farmiga, George Clooney and Anna Kendrick courtesy of a new poster release.
Based on the Walter Kirn novel of the same name, ‘Air’ follows the story of a corporate downsizer (Clooney) whose untethered life, consumed by collecting air miles and receiving VIP travel treatment, is interrupted when he finally meets his match in a businesswoman (Farmiga) who might be the one to finally ground the airborne-happy traveler.
We did a script review earlier this year and found it to be a solid effort from Reitman with heart, soul, laughs and strong all-round potential for a great flick.
More recently though, an early review for the film was sent in to Jeff Wells describing the film as “absolutely amazing,” “near perfect” and sure to be “on everyone’s Ten-Best list” despite being only a rough cut. Praise was also thrown at Clooney whose performance as protagonist Ryan Bingham was described as “masterful,” “Cary Grant crossed with Warren Beatty” and one that “will be nominated for Best Actor.” Early reader reviews aren’t altogether reliable but in culmination with our script review, this looks like a great prospect and potentially a late-hitter for one of the 10-nominees at next year’s Oscar’s.
Back to the poster, the actors are pretty obviously photoshopped in but then, what isn’t these days, right? Only Clooney’s name is featured — not even Reitman’s — and the nifty tagline of “the story of a man ready to make a connection” which debuted on the first poster makes another appearance. Altogether, it’s nothing impressive but we guess aesthetically it gets its point across.
“Up In The Air” premieres at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival before a December release. The trailer for ‘Air’ is apparently set to debut September 10 on Itunes and starting Sept. 18, it will screen before Steven Soderbergh’s “The Informant.”[Empire]
