Well, the word is out on “Captain America: Civil War.” No, reviews aren’t out, they’re embargoed until next week, but tweets weren’t off the table and our own Russ Fischer has given one major ringing endorsement to the film so far.

Of course in ‘Civil War,’ directed by Joe and Anthony Russo — the defacto new Joss Whedon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems — it’s #TeamCap vs. #TeamIronMan, but we’re hoping that battle isn’t as lame and incoherent as a certain recent superhero face-off movie which we won’t mention by name, even if it was beat by a Melissa McCarthy comedy in its third week at the box-office (this is not a sponsored Marvel post, btw; we wish). So in Marvel’s latest episode, Captain America and his team — which includes Ant-Man, The Falcon, Hawkeye, The Winter Soldier and the Scarlett Witch — are facing off against Iron Man and his team — Black Widow, War Machine, Black Panther, Vision and Spider-Man.
The schism? Whether superheroes should be held accountable and should be run and ordered by the government (though there’s probably more to it than that). The MTV Movie Awards are tonight and while you may or may not be watching it, you can watch the first clip from “Captain America: Civil War” right here. ‘Civil War’ opens in theaters on May 6th. Watch the first clip below, plus a new featurette and TV spots, and beyond that some of the earliest Twitter reactions.
At 8pm, WINTER SOLDIER was my favorite MCU film.
Roughly 2.5 hours later, CIVIL WAR is now #1.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR is a Barry Bonds steroids hitting home-run by Marvel & Russo Brothers. And I LOVED Spider-Man in the film. LOVED.

‘Captain America: Civil War’ is so good, it’s a better Avengers movie than the last Avengers movie.

Really incredible character work in #CivilWar. Spider-Man, Ant-Man & Black Panther kill it & Wanda/Vision & Bucky/Sam dynamics are wonderful

I could go on all night with this but one last thing. The airport scene in Civil War is probably the best superhero action scene ever.

#CaptainAmericaCivilWar delivers the goods. Endless Avenger v Avenger action. Tense and still funny. Boseman kills it as Black Panther.

So Captain America: Civil War is pretty good. Spider-Man and the airport brawl are pretty great.

Spider-Man is both the best & most expendable part of Civil War. I want to see more of him

Spider-Man also gets a great introduction in CIVIL WAR. He and Ant-Man steal the big battle scene, which is awesome already
