When will Harry AICN learn to editorialize their content? No wonder /Film is overtaking them in the film blogosphere. We digress. Buried in the bottom of Harry Knowles‘ piece about Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming sci-fi thriller, “Nerveracker,” due April, 2010, is mention of what’s next.
“Sin City 2”? “Barbarella”? “Red Sonja”? Any other number of rumored projects that Rodriguez has had on his plate over the last few years?
Nope, the almost long-forgotten adaptations of “The Jetsons,” talk of which began around 2007.
“Then, it looks like he’ll make his JETSONS movie, which will most likely be the exact opposite of what he’s doing with NERVERACKERS. Robert was shooting some tests for this film recently and was quite giddy about how it was coming together… last time we spoke.”
We can confirm we’ve also heard enthusiastic second-hand talk about “The Jetsons,” so it could be the follow-up to “Nerverackers,” which as AICN notes is greatly inspired by the mood and tone of “Blade Runner” (that talk has bubbled up too). We’ve also heard rumblings that suggest we shouldn’t expect to see “Sin City 2” any, anytime soon.
Almost all the reporting — so excited for an upcoming futuristic thriller — seems to forget that Rodriguez’s kids film, “Shorts,” which centers on a magic-colored rock, is due this summer on August 7, via Warner Brothers.
