Mark Wahlberg Declares That 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' Will Be "The Biggest Movie Of 2014"

This week CinemaCon kicks off in Las Vegas, and it’s where studios go to show off the big movies to theatre owners, while continually assuring them everything is okay, everyone is going to make lots of money, and audiences are going to continue to show up en masse for all the latest tentpoles. And naturally in this environment, it can lead to boasting and bragging as studios try to get everyone attending ramped up about their big shiny cinematic baubles. But Mark Wahlberg took it a whole other level.

The actor stopped by to drum up excitement for “Transformers: Age Of Extinction,” and he didn’t hold back anything about the series which he calls “probably the most iconic franchise in movie history.” And not only that, his installment is going to beat all three previous Michael Bay directed entries.

“For moviegoers all over the world, I guarantee this will take it up a notch,” he said, adding: “It is bigger and better than the other three (films) combined. This will be the biggest movie of 2014.”

So, you hear that box office prognosticators? The contest is over, ‘Age Of Extinction’ wins. And while we all might have a chuckle at Wahlberg’s enthusiasm, here’s something to remember: “Transformers: Dark Of The Moon” made $1.1 billion worldwide. So it’s certainly not outrageous to suggest that ‘Extinction’ will be just as successful, if not moreso. [Yahoo]
