Nope, it’s not a new trailer or photo or plot details from one of the biggest shows on television right now. Instead, the folks at HBO are hoping to spur excitement from a different audience than the hardcore faithful with Catch The Throne, an official “Game Of Thrones“-inspired mixtape that dropped for free today. And below you can listen to the whole damn thing.
Rappers such as Big Boi, Wale and more stop by to drop some rhymes about Westeros or whatever (or as Common spits on a verse, “I sit and think when I’m in my zone / This life is like a Game of Thrones”). We’ll say this, they certainly get points for thinking outside the box, but whether this converts newbies to the show remains to be seen. It did get us to write about the upcoming season, so mission accomplished as far as that’s concerned.
