Ferociously vulgar, outrageously funny, a film about excess that nearly ran four hours long that still features over 50 songs in the movie, there is nothing nuanced or subtle about Martin Scorsese‘s “The Wolf Of Wall Street.” It’s a go-for-broke, NC-17 skirting tale of debauchery that has left few feeling ambivalent about the picture. But if you’ve yet to sneak out of the family obligations and make it to the cinema to see this one for yourself, here are a few teases to get you moving. And if you have seen the flick, here’s even more to dive into.
First up are three clips from ‘Wolf,’ with two centering on Leonardo DiCaprio‘s mentor Mark Hanna, played by Matthew McConaughey, who introduces young Jordan Belfort to the ways of the financial world. Meanwhile, another scene finds Jordan married to Margot Robbie‘s sexpot Naomi who dishes out her own form of revenge after a fight. Wait, want more? Well how about a 30-minute talk with McConaughey, Robbie, Jonah Hill, Cristin Milioti, editor Thelma Schoonmaker, screenwriter Terence Winter and producers Emma Koskoff and Irwin Winkler with THR about the entire production? You can check that out below too.
And as audiences keep buying tickets for the cinematic look at Jordan Belfort’s insane life, what about the man these days? Well, he’s currently a motivational speaker, and THR reports that a reality show about Belfort is now being pitched to TV but not everyone is ready to forgive the man who made a fortune with his penny stock scheme. Christina McDowell, the daughter of one of the men Belfort eventually testified against for the government, has penned an open letter to LA Weekly shaming Martin Scorsese and Jordan Belfort for turning some serious crimes with real life consequences on innocent people into big screen entertainment.
It’s a lot to discuss, so watch and weigh in below.
