So, a concert pianist who’s suffering from stage fright makes his comeback after a five-year hiatus with a concert, only to find a note on his sheet music, threatening his life if he plays a single note wrong. Such is the premise for “Grand Piano,” an upcoming thriller starring Elijah Wood. But lest you think this is a genre exercise without a brain, guess again.

Our man at Fantastic Fest caught the film and not only did he enjoy it, he was positively taken with director Eugenio Mira’s film. Noting that the picture nods to Brian De Palma at his best, our review called the movie “an expertly timed, painstakingly assembled and endlessly engaging game of cat and mouse,” with this first trailer striking the notes that will hopefully encourage audiences to take a chance on this one.

“Grand Piano” hits VOD/iTunes on January 30, 2014 and arrives in theaters on March 7, 2014. Watch below and let us know if it worked for you.
