Alright, Access Hollywood already gave a sneak peak of “I Love You, Man,” with Paul Rudd and Jason Segel, but the the full and official trailer is now out on Yahoo (and youtube). It’s basically about a newly engaged guy sets out to find the perfect “best man” for his wedding, because he has no male friends.
Here’s the synopsis, it’s a total “bro-mance” film (god that term is the worst): “I Love You, Man” follows Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd), a successful real estate agent who, upon getting engaged to the woman of his dreams, Zooey, (Rashida Jones), discovers that he has no male friend close enough to serve as his Best Man, so he embarks on a series of bizarre and awkward “man-dates,” before meeting Sydney Fife (Jason Segel). But the closer the two men get, the more Peter’s relationship with Zooey suffers, ultimately forcing him to choose between his fiancée and his newfound “bro,” in a story that comically explores what it truly means to be a “friend.”
The film also stars Andy Samberg, Jaime Pressly, Andy Samberg, JK Simmons, Jon Favreau, and is due in theaters wide, March 20, 2009. The film is also the opening night film of the SXSW Film Festival also in March of 2009. The film is directed by John Hamburg who did “Along Came Polly” which is not great, but he also did direct the underrated indie “Safe Men” (one of Sam Rockwell’s first shining appearances) and episodes of “Stella” and “Undeclared” so he is capable of good work. Oh yeah, Canadian prog rock trio Rush is in the film briefly too (notice the Rush posters in the background of the top image, we’re pretty sure their characters are obsessed with the band).
