The bond between brothers is one that can’t be broken by distance or circumstance, but it can be tested, and it’s that chain that’s rattled in the upcoming “Out Of The Furnace.” As the film gets ready to roll into the awards season mix, a brand new trailer is here, and it looks quite promising indeed.
In 2009, Scott Cooper‘s “Crazy Heart” seemed to storm in from out of nowhere, and ‘Furnace’ is sort of doing the same, albeit this one is coming with much more firepower. Christian Bale, Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Zoe Saldana, Sam Shepard, Willem Dafoe and Forest Whitaker star in the Rust Belt drama about a man who goes on a quest to find his younger sibling who falls into the clutches of a crime ring. And this looks gritty as hell, and if we’re throwing around glib comparisons, perhaps like some kind of mashup between “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints” and “Prisoners.” Or something. Essentially, it’s the kind of drama that’s right in our wheelhouse and we can’t wait to see this one.
“Out Of The Furnace” will hit the Rome Film Festival and AFI Fest in next month before opening on December 6th. Watch it below. (And if anyone knows who’s covering Neil Young‘s “Heart Of Gold” in the spot, let us know!)
