If you are wondering what binds these two movies together other than they both boast teaser trailers from Japan, well, they are both movies about princesses (wildly different movies, but still) so let’s just get right to it…
First up is “Diana,” the Naomi Watts starring biopic about Diana Frances who became part of British royalty, and pretty much paid dearly for it. The movie, from “Downfall” director Olivier Hirschbiegel, will focus on Princess Diana’s affair with Dr. Hasnat Kahn (played by “Lost” star Naveen Andrews) that lasted from 1995 until a few months before her death in 1997. But as this teaser suggests, it will also dive into the pomp of her position and ruthlessness of the tabloids that went along with it.
But being a princess, at least in fairy tales, ain’t so bad all the time. Disney will drop “Frozen” later this year, and while the first English language teaser pointed to something more like “Ice Age,” the movie is actually about Anna (Kristen Bell), who has to go on an epic journey to save her kingdom which is locked in eternal winter. Or basically, Canada. This Japanese spot shows some of actual movie footage and we’d reckon a stateside version is just around the corner.
Look for both movies this fall, watch below. [Vlicious!/Bleeding Cool]
