Watch: New Trailer For Joe Swanberg's Dramedy 'Drinking Buddies' Starring Anna Kendrick, Olivia Wilde & Jake Johnson

Drinking Buddies trailerMarking a massive shift for mumblecore director Joe Swanberg, in that it looks like he has an actual budget and is working with people you’ve heard of, the real pleasant surprise around the upcoming “Drinking Buddies” is that it’s actually just a plain, good movie. Catching it at SXSW, we said that “relationships are hard, our biology is essentially wired to be completely destructive to monogamy and without giving away exactly how things end up [the film] does a great job of exploring that friction.” Intrigued?

Well, here’s the new trailer for the movie and indeed it does look entertainingly complex and winning. Starring Olivia Wilde, Jake Johnson, Ron Livingston and Anna Kendrick, the film chronicles the office flirtation between Kate (Wilde) and Luke (Johnson) that threatens the long-term relationships they have with Chris (Livingston) and Jill (Kendrick), respectively. It looks like a pretty observant movie, studying couples who maybe shouldn’t be together and people who aren’t honest about their own feelings, and with this cast, it’s one to check out.

“Drinking Buddies” pours you a cold one August 23rd.
