Following the path of “Rumor Has It” and “The Bucket List,” “And So It Goes” is the latest effort from Rob Reiner, and he has a similarly stellar starry cast and crew to match those aforementioned hits.
Reiner has taken the helm of the Mark Andrus-penned script (the writer behind “As Good As It Gets”), with Michael Douglas playing Oren, a self-centered real estate agent who couldn’t care less about anyone else. But his life is turned upside down when his estranged son suddenly drops off a granddaughter he never knew. Now, with the help of his determined and loveable neighbor, Leah, Oren stubbornly learns to care and, unexpectedly, to fall in love again. Diane Keaton is the spunky neighbor, in a movie that will reunite Douglas with his “The American President” director (it will be Keaton’s first round with Reiner).
The supporting cast includes Sterling Jerins (seen in the upcoming “World War Z”) as the granddaughter along with Frankie Valli, Scott Shepherd (“Side Effects”) and Frances Sternhagen (“Misery”) in as-of-yet unspecified roles. “And So It Goes” started shooting in Connecticut earlier this week.
