Chloe Moretz Offered Role Of Young Prostitute In 'The Equalizer' With Denzel Washington

Chloe MoretzOkay, we didn’t see this coming. At all. At only sixteen years old, Chloe Moretz is already looking to push the envelope with the roles she’ll take on, featuring in the grimy indie “Hick” (which by all accounts was pretty awful) while this fall she’ll reign in terror as “Carrie.” But taking the part of a young prostitute? Like we said, didn’t see this one coming…

Nothing is confirmed just yet, but Deadline reports that the offer has been made to Moretz to take the role of Teri, the female lead, in Sony‘s long developing “The Equalizer” with Denzel Washington set to star, and Antoine Fuqua to direct. No, this isn’t the idea of some pervy studio exec, but Moretz participated in a table read for the part, and apparently impressed Washington and everyone else in the room. The part was originally slated for a twenty-something actor, but Moretz was so good it’s her they want instead, and the role is being compared to Jodie Foster‘s in “Taxi Driver,” because what else are they going to compare it to? And as for the actress she seems stoked and has tweeted that she “cannot wait to start,” so this looks like it’s happening.

We can only imagine this might raise a few eyebrows, so it’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out. According to Deadline, the movie is still being aimed for an April 11, 2014 release, but considering that’s less than a year away, and Moretz also has Lynn Shelton‘s “Laggies” on her plate, something tells us that might change.
