George Clooney Eyes Reteaming With 'Argo' Writer For Directorial Effort 'Coronado High'

nullThough he’s still busy shooting “Monuments Men” until June, George Clooney has apparently found the time to start looking for the next movie he’s going direct next. It looks like he’s going to turn his eye to the drug war.

The Wrap is reporting that Clooney and his longtime partner Grant Heslov are in talks to reteam with Joshuah Bearman to adapt his upcoming article, “Coronado High” which “involves a group of teenagers who are used to smuggle drugs in Coronado, which is an affluent resort city near San Diego, California.” Real life story with political undertones? Yeah, this fits squarely in Clooney’s wheelhouse.

Heslov and Clooney last worked with Bearman when they used his Wired article as the basis for this year’s Best Picture winner, “Argo.” This new, as of yet untitled, film is being earmarked as possible directing vehicle for Clooney. So maybe once again he’ll be up on stage at the Dolby Theater collecting an Oscar to add to his already crowded shelf? Whatever he ends up deciding, Clooney still has “ Monuments Men” — which we’ve already pegged as an early Oscar contender — to finish up as well as appearing in Brad Bird’s secretive “Tomorrowland” which starts shooting later this year. Dude’s got a busy year ahead of him.
