You would think that A24 has enough on their plates already this fall, with awards season runs for both “Moonlight” and “20th Century Women,” but the indie studio and tastemakers are already teasing a surprise they have coming for both cinephiles and hip hop heads next year.

The company has announced that this past summer, they backed the production of “Slice,” a feature length film shot on the sly in Chicago and starring President Barack Obama fave Chance The Rapper. Directed by Austin Vesely, who has been behind the camera for multiple videos for Chance The Rapper including “22 Offs,” “Brain Cells,” “Juice,” “Sunday Candy,” and “Angels,” the film takes place in a mysterious city, and centers around an enigmatic outlaw framed for a killing spree that targets unsuspecting pizza delivery boys.
With a planned release date in the second half of 2017, something tells me we’re going to see “Slice” hit TIFF Midnight Madness and Fantastic Fest, if that logline is anything to by. Until we know more, check out a quick teaser for the film, and Vesely’s director’s reel below.
