ACE Eddie Awards Nominees Include 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens,' "Mad Max: Fury Road,' 'Ant-Man', And More

Star Wars: The Force AwakensAs you continue to shake the confetti out of your hair from New Year’s celebrations, the awards season presses on. And this morning, the American Cinema Editors revealed their nominees for the 66th Annual ACE Eddie Awards. While, obviously, the Academy doesn’t split things up by genre, this is a good indication of what movies are making sway among those who cut films, and this year in particular, it’s interesting to note how strong blockbusters are playing.

"Mad Max: Fury Road," "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," "The Martian," and "Ant-Man" have all received nominations. "The Big Short" has been slowly building some buzz and that continues here, but perhaps the most notable omission is "The Hateful Eight," which is perhaps owed to the fact that some people think it already feels a bit too long and/or due to its largely single setting nature. Meanwhile, down in the TV section, "Game Of Thrones" jumps out with two nominations in the  Dramatic One-Hour Series For Non-Commercial Television category.
