Adrien Brody & Bobby Cannavale In Talks To Join Andrew Dominik's Marilyn Monroe Biopic 'Blonde'

Andrew Dominik seemed to be a filmmaker poised for big things in the ‘00s. After his breakout film “Chopper” at the beginning of the millennium, he followed it up with the acclaimed “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.” However, he stumbled with his follow-up “Killing Them Softly,” and things went a bit silent from the director. But Dominik is back and it looks like the next year is going to be a good one, with his “Blonde” currently in production and his two-episode run on “Mindhunter” earning great reviews.

And thanks to a new report from Collider’s Jeff Sneider, we know that “Blonde” is going to have a pretty great cast. “Blonde” stars Ana de Armas as Marilyn Monroe in Dominik’s unique biopic that is set to be released by Netflix. Joining de Armas in the cast are reportedly Adrien Brody and Bobby Cannavale, in talks to play Arthur Miller and Joe DiMaggio, respectively. DiMaggio and Miller are famous icons in their own right, but also both served as subsequent husbands for Monroe during the ‘50s and ‘60s, before her untimely death.

Brody is probably best known for his Oscar-winning performance in Roman Polanski’s “The Pianist.” However, he’s been in dozens of more films, alternating between big-budget spectacle (“King Kong” and “Predators”) and smaller fare, such as his continued work with filmmaker Wes Anderson.

Cannavale is an actor that hasn’t really had the chance to shine in a starring role but has consistently turned in scene-stealing performances whenever he shows up in a film. Most recently, he’s appeared in both ‘Ant-Man’ films for Marvel Studios, as well as the Amazon hit series “Homecoming.” He also has roles in two of this year’s big awards contenders, “Motherless Brooklyn” and “The Irishman.”

There’s no word on when we might see Dominik’s “Blonde” arrive in theaters and Netflix, but it’s shaping up to be one to look out for.
